“The Indian owns no telegraph, employs no press reporter, and his side of the story is unknown to the people.”
(Bishop H.B. Whipple, preface to ‘A Century of Dishonor’)
In 1880, Henry Benjamin Whipple. Bishop of Minnesota, wrote the preface for a book detailing the United States government’s mistreatment of the Native American Indian. I have just begun reading that book, and find the preface to be compelling. It pulls at my heart. Not only do I consider it worth reading, but find it to be opening new vistas of truth & knowledge.
